There is nothing like a hot slice of light fish pie. A fish pie makes for a filling dish for both a dinner party or a family get together or an evening snack. This is a very straightforward fish pie recipe and requires very little preparation and cooking time. This fish pie is very appealing and is smooth and tasty. It can be served with a creamy sauce and vegetables.
Ingredients
- 6 boneless white fish fillet
- 6 hard boiled eggs
- 4 fresh shallots finely chopped
- 5 large potatoes
- 1 leek finely sliced
- Handful chopped fresh parsley
- Half litre milk
- 2-3 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp white flour
- ½ tsp mustard
- Cheese
- Breadcrumbs
Procedure
Peel and cube the potatoes. Boil in salted water for 20 minutes or until they are soft. In the meantime, take a sauce pan and sauté the leek and shallots in butter until transparent but not brown. Mash the potatoes and peel the eggs. Cut the eggs into quarter pieces.
Now, prepare the Bechamel sauce. In a saucepan, heat butter and stir in the flour.
Put in the shallots, leek, parsley and milk stirring all the time. Let it simmer until a thick consistency is reached. Add mustard, salt and pepper and mix well.
Grease the dish you want to use for baking and layer with the boneless fish fillets. Now, pour the sauce over the fish layer and spread the quartered eggs over this. Next, evenly spread the mashed potatoes. Finally, layer the fish pie with grated cheese and breadcrumbs. 30 minutes in a preheated oven at 200 F is enough to bake the fish pie. When ready serve the fish pie hot with a soup or by itself.
